Miles for oil change under free maintenance

Does anyone know how close you have to be on the miles left indicator before the dealerships will change your oil for free?

I was told by a dealership once as long as it's within a couple hundred miles.

I have about 55,000 miles on my car. My warranty is up. How much will the next service cost, and is it worth it? Last time I just changed the oil and paid like 88 bucks. SHould I do the whole thing?

I change my own oil. It is easy and using synthetics is costs around $30-35 dollars. When you say service are you talking about an oil change only or more?

I just had mine done (drove 15,000 miles in five months!) After you've driven 200 miles beyond the point you were supposed to have oil service, the indicator will switch to all dashes (---). Dealer will do the service for free regardless.
