Good day to all!

I have a '90 325is and am installing a momo wheel. What size are the torque srews holding the airbag, I don't have the proper socket and need to go buy the right one for the job. Also, any special tips anyone has to share would be appreciated. I already know the one about the 15 minute battery disconnect before starting, anything else I should know? Will there be a SLS light constantly on after? If so, can it be turned off?

Thanks for your replies. I am new to this board but am a regular on Pelican and Samba. Just aquired this e30 and also own an M635 and have been around BMW's for a while. I look forward to many more visits on your board.

This post will help me out as well. I need/want to pull the airbag wheel off my Dad's cabrio, in favour of a Mtech1 wheel I have lying around. I had the SRS light flashing, but disconnected the wire in the check panel to get rid of it, as there was no light bulb that was removeable. Where do I start? I'm assuming that the 4 holes in the back of the wheel are the torques screw that need to be removed?

momo wheel

Well I installed my Momo wheel this afternoon....
I don't think the hub I bought on ebay is the correct one because there is barely any space between the wheel and the turn signal and whiper stalks. I need to figure out some sort of spacer or washer to put behind the hub to make the clearence a bit bigger. The good news is there are no lights on the dash and the horn works. I do get some grinding when I turn the wheel, have not figured what is causing that yet.

Yeah, sounds like you will have to make a spacer and get longer bolts to clear the stalks, my mate did this on his commodore (I machined a doughnut and drilled holes)

car now running like crap after airbag removal!!!!

Does the fun ever end?!
Now that I've installed the momo wheel and removed the airbag, the car idles like crap and stalls on me. Is this a total coincidence or what? Does removing the airbag trigger some sort of fuel cut off relay or something? I was reading that we're supposed to solder a 3.3ohm resistor on the orange airbag plug to cancel the SRS light, my '90 does not have that light I don't think. Is this resistor supposed to do somthing else? [scratch]

These cars are just this way, your idle problem is more than likely a new vacuum leak, fuel problem etc etc...

You will suffer a condition shortly, known as "the e30 burn" You won't know what to do with the car, will try to fix it, try to sell it, keep it, get rid of it, etc etc...

Imo mate.

I removed the ICV, cleaned it up(very dirty), then I checked for vacuum leaks, found none. Now car runs fine. I have no idea what I fixed or didn't fix but it runs and idles just fine now. I think I may have had a clogged injector or something. It was just wierd that this all happened when I removed the steering wheel. Maybe simply disconnecting the battery caused all this in the first place.

Anyway, thanks to all those who replied to my thread[thumb]
