More ignition questions (newbie)

Hey fellas, just picked up the BMW as a commuter for work. Well, I have a question? When you turn the key lock in the trunk why does the ignition quit? I had to disconnect the battery and then the car would start. Is there a trick to the lock or system? Help!!!!

Sounds like you have a problem with your trunk microswitch not getting a good signal to the anti-theft control module.
