I think he is talking about the instantaneous MPG meter, not the average MPG digital readout calculated by the OBC.

In any case, I have no f-ing idea how the meter works.......I can guess maybe it uses vacuum from somewhere?

the owner's manual probably explains it -- I believe that it is showing your instantaneous gas mileage. I have been told that it is basically a vacuum gauge. Not sure how precise it is, but it does give you an indication of how efficiently you are driving

I'm not sure either, once I drove about 2 miles in neutral and the digital MPG meter shot straight up to about 45-50, then when I floored it it slowly went back down, didn't read 11 or anything right away. If you're talking about the "analog" one, I think that one measures your instantaneous mileage.
