does anyone have the BMW mud flaps installed on your cars? i haven't seen any pics showing how they'd look but looking to keep rocks and other road debris from spraying the car. are they "rigid" and do they attach to existing holes? i like the idea but don't want to look like a semi flying down the road!

I believe they're semirigid. You have to drill at least one hole per wheel well (there's a total of like 3 holes but 2 are already there I believe). It's through the plastic wheel well so it's not too big a deal, but it's easier to take the tire off to do so. I'm still debating getting it.

Sorry, I don't have pics - I find that front are more rigid than the rear ones are, but they definatly keep the side of the car cleaner. My vote is to get them - I don't think that they look that bad.

I was looking at doing them myself but once I saw that you need to take the tires off to drill holes, my wife decided for me that the dealer should do it.

It did have to go through metal for the top holes on the front though for the xi - might be diffent for the coupe.

I had them on at first. Took the nasty things off. [nono]

Looks wise, not too bad, but functionality is very questionable. There was just as much dirt as without them, and still got rockchips on the rocker panels. One other nasty thing is the design. Someone decided to make the flaps hollow inside.... [?|] So after a while they fill up with dirt, and I mean get packed with hard soil. Since the weight increses by a good margin they start to rattle... Well, i took them off.

Here's a picture.

I have them and they have made a difference in the grime i used to get on the back panels. that doesn't mean they still dont get dirty. i am very pleased with the function and looks.
the only negative I would agree with is that the rear mud guards should be more rigid. the back of the guards slide back and forth when you clean them.
