My 2000 323 I

Hi Guys,

I need your feedback..I bought a 2000 323 I/auto..about 2weeks ago..the car is running fine but once in a while I'm getting a red light indicator..its a round red circle with an ! sign inside..I've reviewed the users manual and apparently its a transmission malfunction..and once I stop the engine the sign goes away..and comes back periodically..I've consulted with the dealer and was advised ..without the sign on..they can't do anything??I'm very frustrated..please help..

That does not sound correct at all. There are fault codes that show up that are accessed via the OBDII computer hook up. Check with another dealer in the area. Also check with www.iaibmwsp.org. There are only a few in CA but it is worth a try.
