I have a 2004 330Ci with SMG I picked up in december and it has stalled on me 3 times! The first time I was rolling slowly in a parking garage, and i put it into N to roll into a spot, just being stupid, and it stalled. The next time I was also in my parking garage...I was backing into a spot, and when i shifted into R the car stalled again. After these two incidents I figured there must be something where if you shift out of drive (into N or R) too fast at a low RPM, perhaps the computer gets caught between recognizing your shift and the rpms dropping too low, so it stalls. Well 3 days ago I pull out of my gym, come up to a red light and stop. After about a minute of sitting at the red light my car stalls AGAIN! No shifting involved this time...just stalled stopped at a reds light.

Take it in. There is abug in the software. ZHP's suffer the most, but all 2004 cars got affected to some extend. BMW is keeping it hush-hush. [confused]

Take it to the dealer and tell them you're affected by a software bug and make them fix it....

BMW has more QC issues now...... [rolleyes]

I hope they can fix this. I love the SMG at high revs, but when taking off from a complete stop the clutch takes a little longer than i would like to engage and I've heard rumors that the newest software also fixes taht to some degree.
