Well, after 2 yrs with my '00 323 it's time for a little upgrade (since it seems the new body style is at least 2 yrs away). I almost went for an '03 M3 SMG cabrio, but since it would be my daily commuter I backed off. [screwy] I know I will regret this a little. I found a Mystic Blue 330cic that my dealer had gotten in trade from Detroit, kind of liked the brushed aluminum trim. We haggled and finally agreed on a price, about $1K off sticker. I'm sure I'm getting screwed on my trade in, but I don't want the hassle of selling the car. Then I hear from across the showroom my salesman's voice say, "What do you mean it's already sold?" Seems some other salesperson sold the car last week and didn't tag it or update their books. [bigcry] Unfortunately, they couldn't find a comparable car in the US. So, I get to have the whole experience of tracking the car through the Owner's Circle. Got Premium Pkg (w/brushed aluminum trim), Cold Weather Pkg, Steptronic, Xenons, Park Dist Control, Black top and Black interior (looks good with the aluminum). Getting the Sirius satellite radio installed, too. Since people have said custom things are available, I asked for the M3 steering wheel. What do you all think--do I get the M3 wheel, or not?? May not be technically compatible with the airbag mechanism, or the person approving it may have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed.

So, as of today, the status is "On Order" and all the data about the car is correct (they found an earlier production slot and switched the car). My salesman says 55-60 days; still plenty of warm Chicago summer weather left. [wiggle]

First, congrats on the new wheels. I wasn't aware you could order a steering wheel. They usually only come with a package.

Not sure if I'll get the steering wheel; I just thought I'd give it a shot. Should have asked for the M3 gauges with the red needles, too.
Bought the car at Field's BMW Northfield, IL--mainly out of convenience.
Hopefully, they'll start to think of me as a good customer (bought the 323 pre-owned there, too) so when the 4 comes out, I'll get more than $50 off sticker.

I did not know you could order the steering wheel either. I would definitely go for the M3 one if you can. One of my (many) beefs about the 330 is that the steering wheel seems a little THIN! The wheel on my Nissan Murano is thicker and more sporting.

Congrats and enjoy the wait. As for the steering wheel, chances are the car will arrive with the standard wheel and the dealer will swap it out for a M3 wheel, which can be ordered as an accessory. It is a good upgrade because to me it offers a better grip.

Yeah, the steering wheel can be easily swapped out. I plan on doing it eventually cuz the thicker rim just feels so good.

The guages I'm not so sure about. Never heard of anyone swapping the guages with the M3 one before.

Haven't heard if the factory can do the M3 steering wheel; off tomorrow, will bug salesman. Glad to know it can be done later; how much will that cost, if anyone knows??
Trying to keep patient, not checking the Owner's Circle daily.
However, as of today, the car is "scheduled for or in production"--progress. YEAH!

Factory wouldn't do the M steering wheel-air bag issues. Dealer says $1500.
Car is off the boat, at the Prep Center, sooner than expected. Anyone know about how long it will take to get to Chicago??? Have waited patiently, but am looking forward to it--and hopefully some warm, dry weather.
