Nasty Ding on Driver Side Door

I'm sure this has happened to some of you. I have a nasty ding on my driver side door probably from someone else's door hitting mine. I really don't want to have my entire door painted as i'm sure this will happen again over the course of me owning this car. does anyone have any advice? how good is the touch up paint sold by bmw? is it easy to apply yourself? do those as-seen-on-tv things work (i doubt it). please help! winter is coming and it's a deep gash.

Did it chip the paint? If not, you could try having one of those mobile ding-remover-services give it a try.

EDIT: I just saw the year of your car... Sucks it happened so soon.
