Hello, I got my car (2005 330ci) in February and my navigation has already stopped working completely. The weird thing is that the screen still shows the exact street and city I am in but if I try to get directions the screens says "disc error" I am bringing it in for service in 3 weeks. I have tried removing the CD and putting it back in but that doesnt work. BMW said that they can not send me a new CD, which I think would be much easier than wasting time going to the service depot if in case the CD is the problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thanks!

I have not experienced your problem, but I would recommend this if possible to help fault isolate the problem:
Make a copy of the DVD and try the copied disc in your system. Sometimes if there are errors on a source disc, (caused by any number of reasons) making a copy can eliminate those errors. I run mine with a copy that I made of a more updated disc than what came with my car so I know it can be done and works. I used a DVD+R disc and Nero writing at 2x. I found that writing at any speed greater than 2x caused intermittent read errors in the BMW player. Hopefully you have access to a DVD burner and can do this.

It's worth a try. If you find this fixes the problem, then you know it is the disc and you will probably end up getting a new one from them once they diagnose it for themselves. Otherwise it may be the player or a software bug. If it is not the disc it is most likely the player IMO.

330Girl,
I, too, had a problem with my nav system on my '04 330CI convertible . I took mine to the dealer (JMK, Springfield, NJ) for repair one time only and they changed the software and reset the system. The second time, just days later, the dealer told me they'd simply replace the system - no arguments, no discussion, no hassle. After diagnosis and a repair attempt you should expect the same. Good luck!
