Nav with CD or Cassette

So I'm reading through some of these threads and find it discouraging that some people had got the Navigation System and got a cassette player instead of a single compact disc player.

I ordered a 2005 330Ci and it's already finished production. I ordered the Nav. The dealer mentioned nothing about loosing the CD player that is standard on the 330Ci. My assumption was that the CD player is somehow intergrated in with the Nav system. But to find out it's a cassette player would suck.

What are people's experiences?

You should be getting the CD player. You have to specifically request the tape player if you want it. If you didn't do that, you'll be getting the CD player. I have the navigation system in my 2004 330Ci convertible, and have the CD player. The player is hidden behind the navigation screen -- push a button and the screen servomechanically moves down to reveal the CD slot.

sorry to have brought that point up mike.. but i think you are ok.
just ask your dealer if you are not sure, but you should've normally have gotten the CD player, as i've seen 04s w/ the nav coming w/ the CD. unlike the stupid X5 we got. unless the salesman marked the box w/ cassette, or if that were the case a year ago, i really don't know. i think i might have to call BMWNA again, to find out..

if they did give you the cassette for whatever reason, make them fix the mistake. if you custom order, they had to give you the options you want, not whatever they feel like giving..

Personally I wanted the cassette in the dash with the NAV because I knew I was going to get an aftermarket CD changer in the trunk that also plays MP3. But my dealer told me they couldn't order the cassette anymore, only the single CD. My car is an '04 330Ci coupe.

LOL. Are you quoting the BMW brochure?!?

You guys with the later model E46's get all the goodies! My old clunker came with tape player in the small-screen navigation unit. I have 8 different nav discs i have to replace in the trunk...and my CD player is in the trunk (though it stopped working about a year ago!).
