I am weary of ACC files. All of my ipod songs are MP3 encoded at 192kbps. Great CD quality stuff. I have an Aiwa CD deck with line AUX in.

That said I have never used ACC files, but I hear for the bitrate they're better than mp3s.

I don't have the aux input setup, but I can't say I like the idea of having the plug inside my glovebox. Are you going to be driving around with your glovebox open? Or are you going to plug in the ipod, turn it on, put it in the glovebox and close it?

I have a blitzsafe aux input adapter in my trunk and I ran RCAs from there through the split rear seats into the fold down armrest behind the leather velcro'd flap. All the wires are hidden when not in use. It is convenient and I don't have to have my glove box open to access it, which could be a bit inconvenient for the passenger? When the aux is selected it appears as "CDC 1-99" on the display.

Just my $0.02

I ordered a 325i last week and got the dealer to throw in the Aux input. This type of Aux input is new as of 9/02 production.

The dealer never heard of it, so I sent him these install instructions (www.eurobuyers.com/instinstr/auxkitdir.pdf). He actually had the part in stock and didn't even know it.

From what I've read, the sound quality is superb. I can't wait to hook my iPod up...

Actually BMWROCKS, I have an RF remote for my Ipod. This remote works even thru the glove box.
Sweet. I was just giving an alternative method that doesn't involve the dealer. A total DIY that is clean. I wish I had the aux input as well but can't justify the cost. Real quick, my aux doubles as an Alpine 6 disk CD changer (plays MP3s) interface so I killed two birds with one stone.

I just had my aux adapter installed...unbelievable!
The connector is mounted in the glove box on the side. You just have to buy the stereo
mini cable (6ft) and 2 elbow adapters so that the connection is fairly flush in the glovebox and also the ipod. The aux input is sort of like a pre-amp in a way as there
is a volume adjustment just for it...I think it's 5 levels.

You won't be disapppointed.
