Navigation System Update

I saw on another board mention of an upgrade to the BMW Navigation system - talk of it being at version 24 now or something. How would I go about finding out a)what I have in my car and b)whether I should download the update?

I don't know for sure with BMW, but I know that Volvo's Nav software was updated by inserting a new Nav CD. The CD upgraded the software running the Nav unit... and had newer maps, etc...

I just went to Navteq.com, and there is a North American update to the BMW DVD (2005.2 is the version at the web site). I have no idea if this inclues newer Nav software as well as the promised aditional map data. I ordered it... so maybe I'll know soon enough! :)
