Man, i really wish i had the navigation unit in my car. All the aftermarket units make the car look so awkward. nothing beats the stock look. Is there any possible way to retrofit the navigation? If not does anybody know of any good aftermarket units that'll fit in my 2004 325ci. I want to get at least a 6 in. motorized lcd, and dvd player. Then maybe later add a navigation and tv tuner. Broke right now but doing some research before I start saving up for one. Panasonic had some cool ones but they dont really lok that great and were pretty expensive. Any thoughts?

Sorry Pydo, the stock nav can only be purchase at the time of ordering. In terms of aftermarket nav systems, I think Alpine produces the best looking ones.

the stock nav does not play dvds, but you can purchase a dvd and tv tuner separatly from nav-tv.com. The reason for wnating the stock nav is that it keeps the interior looking nice. There are n parts sticking out or looking out of plce and obstructing other parts of your interior. Oh and thanks Tom. i will check ou som alpine. But I was wondering, I read on e46fanatics for sale forum someone who was selling a stock nav. head unit for 900. They were saying you can install one into a car that didnt originally have a nav. but you need to get the wiring harness from the dealer which they change on each car every year and costs about 200 bucks. Does anyne know if this is true?

Alpine and Kenwood make great fold-out head screen head units (I believe they are called goose-neck or something like that???).
You can purchase the Alpine CVA-1006 head unit (6.5" LCD screen) new, for $600-$700 off of eBay. and then from there, you can purchase an Alpine DVD player and/or Alpine DVD navigation system.

whats so great about the stock nav. system? Is it behind other companies....other companies already have touch screen and voice activated features. And from what I heard its not that user friendly? but then again i don't have the nav. system

All navigation systems are not user friendly until you learn to use them. Voice activated navigation seems like a good idea, but usually voice recognition sucks. As long as a navigation system is DVD-based (one DVD disc for the entire US), I think it's fine.
