Hey guys! I'm in a dilema, and to be honest from the beginning, I'm not really an expert in cars, just so you know:) not to laugh at me....to hard:))

so here is the deal: I'm looking to purchase a '04 325i, and I just wanna find out what options do I have in terms of transmission, I mean what are the differences between steptronic, or SMG or manual or automatic, can you explain in detail a little bit?

also, second question: are the seats in the sport package more comfortable than the regular seats? I have back problems so I wanna make sure I'm getting the most comfortable seats.

also, is the sport package an useful option? Is it worth getting it with the premium package?

Thank u so much guys and sorry if I sound a little unexperienced.

While I have found both the sport and non-sport seats to be comfortable, most people will find the sport package seats to be more comfortable, providing better lateral support and adjustable thigh support. Regardless, I would (personally) absolutely get the sport package, especially with a 325i. If you are interested in getting the best handling possible (aside from aftermarket modifications), the difference is significant. (If you don't care about handling and are looking for a somewhat smoother ride, you may then disregard.)

One note though: if you get the sport package, you absolutely must get winter tires, or a set of winter tires/rims. You should get this anyway, but with the SP, there's just no question.

As far as the premium package, this is really a matter of personal preference, and what options and accessories you want, and how much they're worth to you. I don't know offhand what the 325i PP includes these days, so I can't really comment further...

Good luck!

The following info only pertains to the 325i -- packages differ completely regarding 325ci or even more drastically when you move up to 330 i and ci.

Premium package: includes, wood trim, moonroof, BMW Assist, on board computer -matter of preference as xmas63 on these options -- doesn't really affect the cars performance or appearance really...

Sports package : larger wheels, 17", better seats, and sports suspension. The wheels are larger, but also have low profile tires...so the ride is not as cushy -- BUT -- the sports package gives the car in my opionion a more aggesive and "sportier" look -- I think the sports package is more "worth it" than the premium.

I have both on my 325i and love the combination. On my previous 325ci, I only had the premium package, and regretted it everyday the entire 3 years I had it.
