i have a 1999 bmw 328i, without warning the engine will overheat. If anybody has any ideas or suggestions to what may cause this or what this will cost to be fixed i would really appreciate it. thanks, zack
BMW cooling systems need to bled properly to evacuate air - just adding coolant to the tank is not enough. Has the cooling system been service recently?
I agree, you should have it serviced. It could be something as simple as the cap seal failing or a loose hose clamp to something more serious, water pump failure.
probably a coolant leak somewhere. get it tested (with a pressure tester to find the leaks). if none, take out the bleeder screw, fill it up till it runs out the bleed screw. cap it off and drive.
