I never have understood the push button start - unless it is going to be a keyless entry/ignition where you only have a key fob in your pocket.

it make no sense, but wow would i love to have it. there is a little kit to make my cigarette lighter into the push button like on a z8, if i had a ton of money i'd do it. a buddy of mine starts his car with a toggle switch. i know i sounds rice, but this is a 300bhp e30 with a full cage, so not rice. if i did a start button on my car now, it'd be kind of rice.

On the 7 series you put the remote in and that allows you to turn the engine on with the button, pretty cool over the next coming years this will be standard on all BMW's along with the 6 - speed transmisson - good bye 5 sp!

Actually the exterior does not look so bad....the inside looks just like a 7 series...which I think is a bad thing for a "sport" sedan. Just think how horrible that big long buick, oldsmobile dash design will look in a ci or cic...or how it will look in an M3. Very questionable even in the new sedan...but I think it's gonna look horrible in a 2 door.

Agree????

P.S.

Would love to get my hands on a 320d (they are so torque rich and get awesome mileage!!)

I might be in the minority here - but I actually liked the dash design. I would have to play around with the i-drive for a few weeks before I would actually be sold on that idea though - I would find it easier to have multiple buttons (which the i-drive is design to reduce) where I change something with one touch rather than go through a bunch of menu's.

Looks great!! I don't care for the "Start button" either but it's cool.
Looks like the new 330i is gonna do 0-60 in 6.3 seconds and the 325i is gonna do 0-60 in 7 seconds....I'm guessing these numbers are for the manual transmission versions. I was expecting it to be quicker than that, these figures are essentially the same as the E46 3-series, but they're both still quick.

Not bad! I actually like the exterior shape on this one. This one could make me jealous. We'll see how the coupe turns out but it's looking good.

I think it looks good. Not "great" but good. It'll have to grow on me -- and I'm sure it will. When the E46 first hit our shores I absolutely HATED the look. I thought it looked too much like a Honda Civic. However, over time, I grew to like it. The minor tweaks throughout the model's life span helped immensely. The final face-lift on the coupe/convertible sold me -- this car has classic lines that'll help it age well (in the face of the new 2006).

The overall look is a natural progression for BMW. The things that are minuses are the lack of side mirror turn lights (re: Mercedes), side marker lights too low (compared to most recent 3 series coupe), and the dashboard they are going for is horrendous. If i want a Buick, i'd buy one. The tan dashboard looks very cheap plastic looking....
Another disappointment is the hood closing at the top of the nose (with the thick chrome eyebrow treatment...?). Not sure about that but maybe that is being too picky.
Overall I hope they don't make the mistake they did with the X3 - it looks like it is made of CHEAP materials (especially interior).

I like the new design -- both inside and out. Nice to get rid of those black bumpers all around the sedan. Only minor nitpick on the outside -- not sure I like the heavy-lidded grille top.

Inside showed what looks like dual climate for driver and front passenger, vents for back seat passengers, 2 CD/DVD slots, and iDrive for the Navi model.

Does anyone know how to figure out the horsepower for the various models?

Dawn
