Hey gang,

Have a 98 328is B/B and have just ordered an 04 330ci. (Can't wait!)

I have used Zaino on the 28 for a year with great results but what a ton of work. (I guess that's what it takes for a tremendous finish).

For a NEW Jet Black 330, what would you recommend?
Stay with the Zaino and pay some flunky to do the heavy rubbing?
or, is there something you all have seen that gives a comparable shine and "depth"? Done the Meguires, Mothers, etc routes and Zaino beats 'em cold.

Anything special I should do an a car straight from "the father-land"?

And is there a decent motorized polisher out there that DOESN't cost $300 bucks?

Let me know!....

BMW and Mercedes have been endorsing and using Meguiars for years, and so have I. I have used Meguiars products exclusively since 1992. They work amazing on both light and dark colours, and are easy to use, find and the price is very fair. Their new synthetic wax (bright purple bottle) is totally amazing. I always keep a bottle of their Quick Wipe in the trunk too for unexpected bird crap, sap, splattered bugs, and the gasp....horrible puddles we must drive our babies thru!!!!!

The wax is Meguiars NXT generation tech wax. Your right, totally amazing it comes right off if you get it on the black trim of the bumber and doors.

First go get a clay-bar kit that includes the detailing spray and " clay " your car to get off any pollution and/or fallout that might occur during shipping or from the stay at the dealers. it works great and the results are amazing. You want to do this to start with a clean slate. Then I like to use a paint sealant, I use Ultra Seal. its a polymer that seals your paint and lasts up to 6 months . really looks glassy and brings the color out. You can put a layer of wax over it but make sure its a non-cleaner wax or you'll strip off the sealant.

i get all of these at my local detailing supply shop. And love to shop at

Best Wax & Detailing Products

I have a Jet Black car (which drives me F*CKING NUTS!) needless to say you can see EVERYTHING & God knows I've had enough problems with my finish (mostly due to others stupidity)

My detailer friend Uses Collinite Wax and I keep up the finish with a micro fiber cloth and "Wizard Mist-N-Shine": this stuff is truly a miracle product!
Affordable and great products that several detailers and body guys I know swear by.

I have a Black Sapphire Metallic 330 and have been VERY satisfied with the results I have gotten from using the products I describe below
I bought the P21S kit which includes Shampoo, Paintwork Cleanser, Caranuba Wax, Wheel Cleaner, and Window Wipes. Because my car is new I haven't yet had to use the paintwork cleanser (I bought the kit based on all of the rave reviews I read about each product). The Cleanser is supposed to visually reduce spotting and swirls, preparing the finish for waxing. The P21S caranuba wax is EASY as heck to apply and will not turn white on rubber or plastic trim. I have a Porter Cable polisher that I have used to apply Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze (this helps to bring out the wet look and is applied before wax). I also use a sheepskin mitt for washing and only microfiber towels (Big Blue) for drying. My paint looks amazing - no swirls anywhere!
I buy my products at the following places:
http://www.properautocare.com/index.html

http://www.autosupermart.com/shop/brands/prestone.html (P21S kit is cheapest here)

www.coastaltool.com cheapest Porter Cable

For further information you have got to read "Sticky: Exterior Detail - What I use" thread in the Auto Detailing Forum!!! I got a lot of my tips from there and so far so good!

Meguiar's #7 Sealer and Glaze every month. I never use use wax as it builds up and turns chalky white, especially on black.
