New 330xi: is it an 04 or 05??

Hi all,

I just took delivery of my first BMW - a new 330xi! Only 400 km so far and loving every minute of it.

I have an immediate question, though. When I called the parts department of a local dealer and asked about telephone pre-wiring I was asked for the VIN so they could determine if it was pre-wired. He said no and then told me that the reason he needed the VIN was because he needed to find out the manufacturing date. So I asked him when mine was manufactured. He said August of 04!

Does this mean I just bought an 04?!? I definitely was sold an 05. Can anyone shed light on this for me? Should I be concerned?

2005 models start being sold around the middle of 2004, right? So they are making the 2005's anytime in 2004 to get ready to sell. No biggie. You have the 2005 MODEL year that came off the assembly line in Aug 2004.
