Hi all,
Just bought a 325i black & black last week. Sport, Premium package '01 almost 39K miles, total $23.970 plus tax, fees....still have 1 year warranty left and it's CPO. Drove to LA once and in the garage since then. Well, 1st time driving a BM and it's fun! Especially with sport package but my wife said it's a piece of shit, nothing compare to our Camry (smoother, quieter...). 1st thing she said "you got a flat tire" :)
Anyway, my question is now, I wanna change the trans oil, coolant, brake.... If so do I have to pay for the whole thing or just co-pay??? Right now it says "oil service next 3xxx miles" and that's it. I'll have to think again if I gotta pay the whole package. Saving some $$$ for the new tires 1st.
What you guys think? Do I need to do that or not?
Thanks alot

Congrats and welcome aboard. I think all those that you mentioned requires you to pay for it. Unless the brakes are worn, I wouldn't worry about it too much at 39k miles.

Check you manual for service times. I did my own radiator flush...not a big deal all (if you don't over tighten the bleed screw). Not sure what you're asking, actually. You're manual has what needs to be done and when. Do a search on the threads for dudes have done it bofore, I guess.

Holycow! holycowe. Welcome to the board.Your local dealer can pull up your cars maintenance records and warranty work that has been don e. You might be over due for some free maintenance , or it could've just had some of that work done recently . This way you'll know whats been done by the previous owner (s) or any recalls for your vehicle..

but the best thing going for you is that the wife won't be " borrowing " the car all the time

I asked at my local dealer if they could bring up any previous maintenance done to my car and they said they weren't able to because if it was done at a different location they would have no record of it. is this true?

My service advisor let me know about work that was done when the car was in California and I bought it in Hawaii. I would suggest going in and casually say you r thinking of getting some work done but don't know what s been done from the previous owner. Ask the SA to look it up for you. They still make money on warranty items albeit not as much as a regular repair. They would love to get your car in the shop for any kind of work . I'm sure the mechanics will be looking for some unrelated work that " needs " to be done at $100 an hour ..[rolleyes]
