Just made the jump to BMW, ordered the 06 330i (6M) with Sports Pkg / Cold Weather / Sat Radio / Comfort Access - love the 18's (162) on this car. Couldn't seem to find any manual's on dealer lots (which I found odd) so the order has been placed. Dealer states never longer than 8 weeks and usually @ 6-7 for delivery. Anyone have experience to say if it should come on time??

Previously drove an 01 Audi S4 - stolen and replaced with allroad for one year - and came close to going M3 but practicality set in. In any event, I actually love the looks of the E90 and always liked the E46 as well. Can't wait to spend some serious saddle time and see if the BMW experience is all its cracked up to be. Already a bit of a fan as I own the BMW R1100S Boxer Cup Prep and it is much fun..

Looking forward to some good info and such on the forum- enjoy././

I wouldn't count on the delivery date. Never guaranteed - you will I am sure get your car but not as soon as you think as there are many factors involved to cause delay. A colleague of mine ordered the M5 - one of the first in Toronto, waited, waited.... and still waited as it got held at the shipping docks.

But regardless, congrats. From driving experience, the handling on the E90 is superb. Can't speak much for the interior design. But that's purely my .02 cents. Make sure to post pics when you go get it. Have someone take a picture of you as you go to pick up the car at the dealer. That is truly a kodak moment that you will cherish.

Congrats and welcome!

6 - 7 weeks is not unreasonable, but sometimes they do get held up in shipping and/or at the US vehicle prep center, waiting for some customs bureacrat to sign off import papers.

The ships typically travel through the North Sea, across the North Atlantic, stopping in Nova Scotia and on to the US. Your car should arrive in Jersey, so you're one of the first off the boat!

If BMW uses their usual shipping company you can track your car's shipping progress with the VIN, AFTER it has been built and released to the shipping company. Go here:

I'm already itching to get my hands on it....Thanks for the info, my dealer said I will have some sort of access to build timeline and delivery timeline along the way. Beleive they sent the order on most recent Friday (1/13)......

Will be sure to pop off a few pics on arrival.

Anyone else have a tough time finding the 6MT on lots? I figured those putting out $$ for more displacement would be preferring manual tranny? My dealer could only locate one and it was in VA but had aluminum trim, which I passed on.

Thanks Again

Anyone else have a tough time finding the 6MT on lots?

In my area I'd say over 80% of the new cars on Dealers' lots are automatics, and I'm counting SMGs as manuals. I rarely get stuck in stop and go traffic, but I did over the holidays and if I had to drive through that kind of traffic daily, I'd definately get an automatic. Since the vast majority of car buyers must drive through stop and go traffic on a daily basis, it doesn't surprise me that automatics are so popular.

I do hit traffic every now and then but also make some trips in the Northeast which give me the opportunity to play a bit. Will deal with the madnees for pleasure on the flipside.. My first Audi S4 I went with the tiptronic tranny and regretted it every day thereafter.....

We placed our oder for a 325Xit on 11/19/05, and will take delivery of it this week. So total time was a little over 9 weeks. Tracking your order on Owners Circile is helpful, but the status shown on the site seems to be behind the actual status by about 3-4 days at each step. I also tracked by the site Kirby posted above, and our vehicle was loaded on the barge at Bremerhaven on 01/05 and arrived in NY 01/18, to give you an idea how long the trans-atlantic trip takes. I can't wait to pick up the wagon, Sparkling Graphite on Terra leather, navigation, premium pkg, heated seats, xenons.
