My new 2003 330i (silver-grey)has the wost paint of any car I have ever owned. The flat surfaces are smooth however on many of the curved surfaces, such as new the wheel wells the paint is rough. Any thoughts on why this is and how I can correct it. It would seem to me that this is something the dealership should fix.

Take Big Daddy's advice. I have had a lot of trouble with mine. The dealer paid for a high-end detail shop to buff mine out and there are still flaws etched in the clear coat-this after a $405.00 detailing bill. Also, I still have a paste substance that I cannot seem to get off the windows despite washing them a number of times. I washed the outside windows 4 times just yesterday. The car is great but I am so nervous about the exterior it has taken some of the fun away. It does not seem as durable as it should be or someone along the line cut corners. They are now talking about repainting parts of it, something I am not happy about being that it is a new car with only 1,100 miles.[V]

But what can a dealer do about it? I mean, I wouldn't want the car re-painted by some blob who will do a poor job.. it will never be as good as factory sealed. For the car to be fully re-painted it would have to be taken apart and will cost a lot... dealer wouldn't pay for that and I bet the warrenty is not wild about paint jobs.

It is a lease so BMW FS has been involved because they know they are getting it back when the lease is up and will be dealing with the problem then if not resolved. I guess whatever they do to fix the problem is up to BMW and the problem is well doccumented so that I will not be charged at the end. I have decided that there is no way I will but this car at the end of the lease as I had thought in the beginning. So I guess BMW and BMW FS can do what they see as the best option.
