New owner... and suspension question.

Hello everyone, we just bought an '02 330xi and I couldn't be more proud of it!

A couple of questions to start off.
Does the 330xi suspension differ at all from the 330i? Are the springs any different? (sadly, no sport package) I would like to lower the stance 1 - 1 1/2" for better handling and appearance. I want to go with an M style wheel also.
I do all of my own work so any suggestions would be great! Thanks!!

Just wondering... if you wanted to have a lower car with sports suspension and better handling im guessing you want performance, then why didn't you go with the 330i RWD? Since you're from Alabama you don't need AWD as it never snows, the AWD hardware makes the car heavier, slower, less agile, and gets poorer fuel economy. The regular 330i would have been seemingly perfect for your needs, anyway enjoy the car and welcome to BMW. There is a post about a suspension kit for the xi if you do a search...

i was thinking along the similar lines. i don't know how much it costs, but i'd try to get adjustable shocks, esp for the xi, since if you ever get on the snow, you'll want to have the extra clearance not availiable w/ the lowered shocks.

The 330xi has no sport suspension, and sits 0.8" higher than a normal 330i. If you go to the TireRack and input your vehicle information, it will give you a few suspension options. You can get a set of just springs, or a full coil-over kit. Whatever you want is up to you. Welcome to the board!

The reason I got the this xi is because of the INCREDIBLE deal I got from the Atlanta Auto Auction. This car is in excellent condition (1 owner lease car) and I got it for way less than even loan value.
