Everyone -

Got my car serviced the other day and realized that I also needed tires. One thing led to another and I got hooked up with a tire place (Wheelworks) that has a relationship with the BMW dealership. I got the following tires for my ride:

Bridgestone Potenza S-03's - 225/45-17, YR speed rated

Unbelievable difference in the way my car handles and drives. Sure, they are expensive and sure they don't last that long, but WELL worth the money. They grip the road like its made out of glue. I barely have to tap on the breaks to stop now. I swear my acceleration is 5x's better. I wish I had clocked my car before and after.

Just because some of you might ask, I had the original stock tires that came with sport package before getting these tires, so yes, it was a huge bump up in class, but I never realized it would make my car even more fun to drive.

Yup, that is what is expected out of a better set of tires. Bridgestone S-03's are the best Max Performance tires out there. My car came with Michelin Pilot Sport tires ($258 each front, $270 each rear), but when they wear out at 12,000 miles or so, I am going to switch to the Bridgestone Potenza S-03's. They are cheaper ($193 each front, $201 each rear), and supposedly better than the Michelin Pilot Sport's. Good luck with the new tires!

S0-3's are the rubber to get. [thumb]

They will last quite a bit actually. I've run them for two years with 8 track days and 12K miles and still going with about 50% tread left.

Watch out in the morning or in the winter, however. They have no grip when very cold.

Yeah - the guy at wheelworks told me that same thing. I read about them online before getting them at tirerack, and supposedly, they're a little louder than the tires I had before, but I honestly can't hear a difference. Amazing tires.

I had a set of Pilot sport A/S on my 323 before and i loved it ... but now that i got the 04 330ci with 18' wheel ... they gave me Dunlop 9000 (while the 330i 18" set comes with Pilot Sport - exact set of rims ans size ..what the XXX)

I don't like the 9000, it has no grip and cornering sucks ... good in wet condition tho ....

I am hoping to wear out this and either get mysaelf the Pilot Sport or S-03 ....

I am tending towards Pilot Sport ... but want to know on abg how much km or miles i can get out if them .... 15K ?

My 04 330Ci with 18" wheels came with Michelin Pilot Sports. Too bad you can't specify tire manufacturer and model when the car is ordered. I would prefer the Pilot Sport A/S for better all-season traction and longer tire wear. According to the Michelin site, A/S is available for the front (225/40ZR18), but not for the rear (255/35ZR18) - kind of strange.
