I am in the market for a used 3-series convertible (2002-2004) and I have a few questions:

What is the difference between 325i and 325ci ?

What kind of issues do these cars have after 50K miles? Any quirks, things to watch out for?

Thanks

I have an 02 325 cic with just under 50k. No problems so far other than maintenance. 325i refers to the 4 door, ci is the 2 door, and cic ref to the convertible.

As Ed (eheeus) says above, the convertible is technically referred to as the 325cic, but the badge on the car will just say 325ci. Many times they are just described as "325ci coupe" or "325ci convertible".

Issues
Software related - transmission had software updates to correct shifting issues and climate control system had updates to correct a problem with powering off the computer.

Some people have reported early automatic transmission failures at 50K to 100K miles, but it does not seem to be extensive.
