I'm planning on picking up a 2001 325Xi tomorrow at the local BMW dealership. Although I am buying the car from a private seller, the dealer is going to purchase it and resell it to me for the cost of the inspection fee ($140) and the the CPO warranty ($2000) plus the sellers asking price. The car has 49K mile and the CPO warranty will take me to September 2007 and 100K miles. Is this a good deal? I also get a 2.9% rate on the loan. The dealer did say that I would be responsible for any shop charges if needed to pass the CPO inspection. Any idea of what these may be? The tires and brakes appear to be in good shape. Could they require a brake fluid change or other routine service? The oil was just changed by them at 47K miles. Also does anyone know if the CPO warranty covers oil leaks due to gasket failure. Are there any other things that I should look out for or ask for before committing to the purchase?
