Alright. I've never owned a bimmer.. The car I own now is 97 Nissan Maxima with full skyline body kit with about 5Gs under the hood... which I know is nothing.. I'm currently selling it and getting used 2000 328ci from a friend of mine within the next month... taking over payments for next 2 years and yes still under warrenty :) It's bone stock and I was wondering what the first few things I should be doing.

All my life I only owned Japanese makes.. Acuras, Nissans, etc.. This will be my frist auto. I also would love a wide body kit and want to know if there is one for this make and model. First 3 things that came to mind was wide body, rims, and a drop.

I don't see a stickie for a newbie so I'm starting this thread. Let me know, all opinions would be appreciated. I'm still member of many other forums for my previous cars and hopefully this would be a good experience as well.

Yes, there are wide body kits for the E46. Not many tho, but then again, there aren't many widebody kits for most cars.

For your heavy duty modding, consider e46fanatics.com Anything that can be done to the E46 3 series, likely has been done and talked about on that site. However, a warning. Any basic questions, you'd prolly best to ask here first. They're a bit anal about newbs and common questions over there. It's much friendlier over here.

You're basically looking for show before go right?

Thanks for the input. I'm gonna check out e46fanatics.com and see what's up. Basically, I want to make it look nice before I start to do anything to the engine.

1. Wide body/Rims/Drop
2. Intake/Exhaust from header back/Supercharger
3. Little things like carbon fiber here and there, accessories.. etc..

Hopefully no more than 10Gs spent when I'm done. :)

Oooooh, I see 10 G's really quick for all the stuff you want. You'll find out real quick that parts for your Maxima are quite a bit cheaper than parts for a BMW.

You would be surprised.. ;) But the thing is.. I can basically do all the labor myself so it'll be just parts I'm spending money on.. so hopefully no more than 10Gs with hookups.

You're going to spend $10K on a BMW to make it "look nice"?

To each his own, but turning a BMW into a Chevy Camaro is not
what many would classify as "nice."

And on a purely economic level, you'll be getting burned twice: once
for the guido parts, and then once again when it's time to sell the car
because the guido BMW market is small.

and when did i say 10k JUST to make it look nice?? 10k for performance and looks.

how is it quido for having body kit and rims? and dropping the car is guido?? oh c'mon.. i guess you love to have 4 inch wheel gap for that 4x4 look. i'm not putting chrome door protectors and led lights in my hood if that's what you mean. you obviously have no idea what your talking about. i have no idea how you can compare it with a camaro when i'm done with it. how am i getting burned on the "guido parts" and when i'm selling? I.E. if you buy SSR competition rims for 2000 bucks and use it for about a year, do you think it'll depreciate the value of the car? and i don't see how it will become guido?

oh and did you know that you can save your original parts so you can swap them out when your selling? wow... [screwy]

I work on my own cars and I can pretty much do everything a good mechanic can do. I'm only using 10K on parts and that's plenty enough money for me to buy a supercharger, some kit, rims and various other performance parts. I think you don't have a clue when it comes to hooking up a car. You see these people driving around with big round exhaust and a chrome hub caps and altezzas and I guess you concider that "hooked up" or "nice" or "guido parts" and if you think that's what I want to do than you should just shut the fu<k up. [thumbd]

I just don't get your whole post from start to the end. Sorry but try to go insult someone else with less knowledge. [boxface]

welcome aboard Steve. hope you enjoy your new ride. just do whatever you like with your car and hope you like it, "nice" can be good or bad, depending on the view imo. with 10k i'm sure you can do some nice things with it.

must not like guidos tho, eh? (jots down a mental note, then watches as it falls to the floor w/ piles of other mental notes) enjoy the forums. oh, and post pics [:D].

Hey I like guidos.. and some of the chicas are nice [;)]

I'll definitely post some pictures. My buddy is still driving the car around, as I'm still trying to fix up few minor details to my maxima before selling it. I love cars and I take care of it untill the very last moment of ownership and detail.... but for now, just trying to get an head start on parts for this beauty but so far I can't find what I am looking for. :)

Hey, if you can't take an honest opinion like an adult...

And for the record, many of the cars modded over at e46fanatics, for
example, look like guido cars to me. Such as this M3, with a silly carbon
fiber bolt-on that will hit every curb in town.

They also painted the chrome grill black, and stuck plastic things above
the headlights.

Anyway, to each his own.

Good luck with your mods.

Is it just me or does this kormax guy come off as a petulant child. I'm almost embarassed that we share the same name. Mr. Steve, if you plan on disagreeing with someone why not do it respectfully? Not everyone on this forum is 16yrs old and enjoys reading sarcastic "I'm taking this personally buster" and other "blow sunshine up my ass" comments like "roiiiight" Don't even get me started on the logic behind your post and the flawed writing mechanics. Will gave his opinion, be a grown up accept it and give yours without all the junk..

And I gave my opinion. I'm 24 and I know my cars. If you didn't like my opinion as "roiiiight" or any of the posts in the beginning, you could've just let it be, but no, you had to post here and disrespect my views just like you said I did. Why do you have to call me a "petulant child" or a "16yrs old who enjoys reading blah blah blah" I see that as off topic as well and your not helping in this topic. I simply asked where I can find wide body kit and did not ask for any opinions on what you think it'll look. The other guy tells me I'm making the car "guido" out of nowhere, which is very rude and disrespection the hispanic community. What if I was hispanic? I was perfectly a gentleman when I was talking to codex57. However, all william330's posts have nothing to do with what I originally asked and also offended me and disrespects e46fanatics. If I wanted opinions on how it would look, I would be happy to hear negative and positive comments. And you sir, don't have to educate me on www.HOTBIMMER.com on how flawed my writing mechanics are. The way I see it, (even though I think your way over 40) you should really grow up and not try to be "the father of forums" and stay on topic.

So all that's said, once again, if you know where I can look for wide body kit, please help me. Isn't that what the forum is for? I am not looking for comments or debate about how it looks. Is that more clear now for everyone? [rolleyes]

Hey, hey, play nice fellas. We don't wanna sound like the typical Civic board.

Unfortunately, most widebody 3 series you see sport custom bodywork. However, search around for Flosman. They make a kit, but it may be for M3 only. not sure.

Hey thanks, I just checked out Flossman wide body kits but they only make it for M3s like you said. errrrgg. I guess I'll be going with simple CF lip + sideskirt. I think it'll look nice on a silver car, although time to time I start going all crazy on CF and someone has to stop me before I get the whole car turned into CF. :)

P.S. Where can I get the trunk part of the taillight for good price? The reverse light lense part is getting yellow and it's bugging me.

Well, if you can't see the connection between a body kit and a
guido BMW...

The term "guido" has absolutely nothing to do with the "hispanic community."

And if you can't handle differing opinions, perhaps you shouldn't post on
the Internet, where people will share their opinions, whether you like
it or not.

Are you going to pull out a glock now?

People don't have to like what the folks at e46fanatics do to their
cars -- that's not "disrespect" that's their opinion.

Lastly, you might consider the opinions of those who will likely purchase
a used BMW in the future, or you can ignore their opinions and throw away
your money -- twice.

So what is your point? Why are you keep arguing with me? You don't know where i can get wide body kit, so that's it. I still don't see the point in your posts. I was talking to the other guy about disrespecting others because he mentioned it. What's up with your comments? "Are you going to pull out a glock now?" I'm not even gonna explain how childish THAT sounds...

I've already said that all the process can be reversed (keeping the stock parts) so why would I be loosing money twice? You have no logic in your theory and you probably don't even know how to change engine oil. PERIOD. End of your off-topic posts.

EDIT: Actually you know what, Codex57 if you see this, just lock this thread. I'm done playing games with this guy.

Alrighty chief.... first off lets try learning the difference between "your" and "you're"... Then get back to "schooling me on internet forums"

To be honest I couldn't care any lesser as to what your 328ci to be looks like, I just didn't appreciate your attitude problem... next time you intend on using the F word on a forum and forcibly subjecting others (me) to reading it, try it out in realife first and see what it gets you. The way I see it you don't act like you're 24, you act like you're 16, incharge of everything, and immature. If you can't write a complete sentence without errors in it, then don't even bother replying to my post.

Sorry in advance if this offends the mods, but I felt compelled to add to this...
