I did a major service when I got my E30 (1988 318i UK model ) in May this yr and change all the fluids and belts etc.

I am currently using Castrol Magnatec engine oil which is semi synthetic. I intend to change the oil every 8000km@5000miles. Is that OK?

My mech also did not change the spark plugs and air filter in May as he said it was still OK.

I intend to change the plugs and air filter at the next service in a couple mths time.

As for Plugs......any recomendation?

As for filter should I stick to original or get K&N replacement?

For a semi-synthetic oil, I would recommend an oil change interval of 5-6000 miles. For a full synthetic, you should be able to hit 7-8000 miles. You should be able to find a company like Blackstone Labs that could test your oil to discover the optimum oil change interval.

Spark Plugs and air filter should be inspected for their need for change. And I would recommend the factory spark plugs as well as the factory air filter.
