I have a 2002 330Ci w/ Harmom Kardon stereo system.

I just got back from the dealer where they fixed the annoying rattling coming from the rear panel. I guess it was a recall and totally covered under warranty.

They just added some insullation to the rear panel and the rattling is gone !

Too sweet !

i have some speaker rattling but not sure if that is normal... how load/amount of bass do you have to have to reproduce it? I am not sure if I should take it in.

Thanks for the info Terry, I might have to take mine back so they can install this insullation.

A lot of us have passenger door speaker rattling/buzzing. Mine is intermittent, meaning it only happens with some music and not others. For me it is most reproducable if I am listening to talk radio like Howard Stern who has a bassy voice.

I had the speaker replaced under warranty a month ago and the rattling went away for about 3 days, but is back. Will have them replace it again I guess.

Others have the rear panel rattling as described by Cabra for which there is a recall. I believe that one affects 2002 and earlier models with the HK system with subs. Mine doesn't have that rattle.

The speaker rattle that has become notorious for the H/K equipped e46 BMWs. While this may sound like a blown speaker, it is actually the door panel clips vibrating. The part numbers below should stop any rattling from the door panels, and rear subwoofer attached to the package tray.

I brought that SI into my service dept when they were looking at my speakers. They told me it didn't pertain to my car and I insisted that they try it anyways because they couldnt find any other solutions. So they took my door panels off and they said I already have the foam blocks installed. So why do I have the rattling noise? [???1]

The door panels aren't supposed to get foam. The first two part numbers are for new door panel clips and rubber washers to go around those clips.

The foam is for the sub only. At least that's my understanding.

I don't know. All they said to me was that I already have what the SI calls for them to do. I am going to try a different dealership to try to get this resolved if they can't fix it at my next appointment.
