I spoke to my dealer awhile back and they said it's not possible since BMW doesn't make those parts available to the dealers.

I don't see why not. You'll just have to pay for replacing certain interior body panels in addition to nav parts so it can get expensive if the dealer does it. Otherwise, it's not that big a deal. Why don't you get an aftermarket one though? German nav systems aren't exactly the best out there.

edit: just saw Tom's post. It might stll be possible. I mean, what happens if your car is in an accident and needs the Nav replaced? It's gotta be replaceable somehow.

Yeah, usually you have to order the navigation with the car. I think there is a way to install the OEM navigation on E46 3-series.
Either way, what are the chances that your navigation unit will get all messed up in an accident? If that's the case, the car must be totaled.

man, just looking at the pics made me all dizzy..

i'll stick to my non nav system for now, but ultimately i wanna add a computer on there for playing movies/ mp3s, and a nav system.. i've seen some mods floating around the web.
