I think the early 84-85 318s were around $15k, with the 325e around 18-20k. By the time the E30 run ended in 1991 in the US, the new 16v 318 was $20k and the 325i was near $30k, with the convertibles and M3s over $30k.

I bought mine new in 1984

it was $24,180 US for a 325e without the leather and with the metalic paint.

That included some additional items I wanted, overhaul manual, ETM, floor mats, change in tires, and a radar detector.

Yep, it is still my main driver.

The e21 is a weekend driver and the e24 is a Dyno towing mule.

I have all of the data for every three series through 2001 (3 series enthusiast's companion, Bentley publishers, highly recommended).

MSRP of a 1987 325i 4dr. and 325is were $26,990.

By 1990 the 325is was $28,950. The 325i rose to $28,400 in 1988, but went down to $25,450 in 1989 and $26,400 in 1990 (the price drop reflects a loss of standard features, like leather and a power versus manual sunroof, IIRC).

The original US E30s were $16,430 for the 318i and $20,570 for the 325e.

I cannot stress how wonderful this book is for anyone who owns a 3.
