oil question

Everyone seems to agree that 15K miles might be a bit excessive for a car... but over that 15K miles should I need to add oil? My light came on... I had an oil change about 5 months ago (11,000 miles)... I drive a lot of highway miles...

48,000 miles total....

I'll mention it to the dealer next time I'm in there, but I wanted to know from you guys if it seems like a problem or if it should burn up some oil over that many miles...

Adding a quart between changes, especially after 11,000 miles is pretty normal for a BMW.

I bought a 2004 BMW 330 xd touring.The car performs really well but it dors not enter the red rpm zone (about 5000).Is that normal?

I am not up on the diesels much, but 5000 rpm would seem a bit much for a diesel. I would be willing to bet that your car is performing normally. I suggest that you double check with your sales advisor.

Yeah, some BMW's burn oil for some strange reason. 1 quart over 11,000 miles is normal.
