yup, 5w30 synthetic is the way to go. but if it were my car i'll use Mobil 0w40 or Castrol 0w30 made in germany for winter and Castrol 5w40, valvoline 5w40 for summer. Just make sure it's BMW LL98 or LL01 approved w/ ACEA A3/B3 approved. Offcourse that my personal opinion, its up to you.
