I have done some research and i am playing with the idea of getting the GruppeM CAI. It looks great and from what i hear sounds awesome over 3k rpm. Please sway me in a direction. And as far as warranty issues, when i bring it in for service, supposedly you can get the intake off and the stock airbox back in about 15 minutes. What do you all think????

As long as it offers a qualtiy filter system, I'd say go for it. Some of the cheaper free-flows have very poor filtration. I woulnd't want all that crap in my engine just for a few extra horsepower.

Is that filter blocking engine heat (ie cold air intake) some offer metal of plastic around the housing to block direct engine heat. I see that this specific Gruppe filter has carbon around the filter, but where will it acctually be sucking air from...near the headlight area?

the 330 actually takes air from the kidney vent in the front and pipes it into the airbox, where as, this setup will take air directly from the kidney vent. All you have to do is remove the duct from the kidney area and voila, open element directly to the CAI. I am actually doing this more for the sound that it will produce. Horsepower increases will be welcomed but they are secondary to my madness...

The Gruppe is the high end of CAI's, it's supposed to sound the best, but I highly doubt it's performance gains are more than a Benfer, or ECIS for instance.

Go for it, you'll grin once you hear it installed. I didn't think I'd hear a difference after I installed my ECIS intake (it has a heat shield over the firebox, so I thought this would deaden the intake noise). Nope, still screams nicely.

You will find that you can hear the throttle whistle once you make the swap (sometimes, folks get upset because the sound comes through pretty clean to the cabin). Other then that, have fun!
