Looks like you are exactly a week behind mine. Keep checking the site - my arrival in new york has gone from 4/21 to 4/23 over the last few days.

Soon I'll go from an 89 daytona to a 2004 325xi 5-speed. Wooo-hoooo !!!!!

Congratulations! Wish mine would hurry up and get here. OC still says it's only "On Order" but I spoke to someone via the 800 number who said that I'm scheduled for 20th week production. Arggh. This is pure torture.

Don't want to get your hopes up, but....

the 800 number guy originally told me I was scheduled for production "Mid-April", but the car ended up in production before the end of March, completed April 2nd.

So in pure quantum theory maybe your car could go into production sooner than they said...

Yeah, I've heard about them being conservative with production completion dates. I'm hoping that is the case with mine. when did you order your car?

Ordered March 11th, was a while before it showed up as scheduled for production. Completion date was April 2nd. loaded on vessel April 8th, now slated to arrive NY April 23rd.

The wait is an absolute killer, isn't it? I've memorized my VIN by being on the tracking site so often.

The wait is f*ckin killing me. Before I ordered, I was sure I wan't going to be a nutcase about checking status. Now I do it twice a day. I ordered March 25th and I'm still waiting for a completion date.

You want crazy, the other day I found myself calculating the average piston speed at 6,000 rpm just to be doing something bmw-related.

I hope the car lives up to the pain of waiting. Somehow I suspect it will, in comparison to my 89 daytona: http://geocities.com/johnr7/

At least the 325xi won't have rust holes in the floor right off the bat!

That's hilarious. Is that Daytona the turbocharged version? I had a friend back in 90 that had on ein white. The car was super-unreliable though. That's going to be quite a change! Good luck with yours, and thanks!

I guess the BMW distribution center is in GA eh? I can't figure out why they would ship my baby all the way down south when it will then need to come all the way back up north to NJ. THat means my poor car is going to have to brave the elements for several hundred miles! Grrr...why not drop it off in NY? [bash]

Yep, the daytona is the turbo. Actually not a bad car, after all the mods I've put into it like replacing the crumbliing vacuum hoses and what not.

Are you telling me that my Chicago-bound car will get dropped off at Georgia and not New York?

That means several more days, I hope that isn't right! I was just assumming New York.....

My story

03/05 - Ordered
03/10 - Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date
03/21 - Vehicle in production, estimated completion date 03/31.
Owners Circle still says “On Order”
03/24 - OC now says “In Production” Vin # issued
03/27 - “Vehicle in Body shop, estimated completion date 03/31”
03/28 - “Vehicle in Paint Shop, estimated completion date 03/31”
03/31 - “Vehicle being transported to the port of exit”
OC says “In Production”
04/01 - OC says “Awaiting Transport”
04/02 - “Vehicle at port waiting for a shipping vessel”
04/06 - OC, 1-800, and !-800 Rep, say car at “port awaiting vessel”
W&W Shipping say auto was loaded and shipped on 04/02
04/07 - “1-800 states in transit”, OC still says “Awaiting Transit”
04/09 - OC finally says “En Route”
04/15 - Arrived in port exactly as scheduled
04/16 - “At Processing Center” -- at this point 1-800 no longer any use.
04/19 - Salesman indicated I should have this week - Finally

As you can see a lot of conflicting information. It would see the "OC" site is the least reliable followed by the 1-800, and then the dealer. Hope this helps someone who felt like I did for so many weeks..........

Hm... I guess the situation in the States is different than in Canada. My dealer didn't give me the VIN when I put in my order for a 330ci last month (the invoice also shows blank in the VIN field). They said they will call me with the VIN number after the car arrives in Canada.

So I can't check the status! I ordered my car in end of March. My sales agent told me I could still make it in time for the cutoff for the production batch in April (I forgot which status code it was that he showed me, but it meant something like "last chance" for the dealer to change the options on a car they had already ordered through BMW AG). I was told the car will be here some time in May. Do you think my car is on the same vessel we are talking about here?

Did the dealer give you a 7-digit (I think) production number? If so you should be able to get the status from the owners circle website, and that is where you can find the VIN once production is in progress.
