I have a 2003 325Ci, which I took delivery in Oct. 2002. 7 months later, my baby had to be taken to the dealer on a flat bed because of a very rough idle and "Service Engine Soon" light. Turns out ALL 6 ignition coils were bad and had to be replaced!

Now it's 9 months later and the same damn thing. I'm assuming its the coils again, but won't know for sure until the car is hauled back down to the dealer.

Is this a recurring issue with 325's?

Wow...i feel for ya man.

All I can say is my engine coils have yet to be replaced after 108,500. If they got them replaced...it's gotta be something else. Who knows. There's not excuse for a car having to be on a flat bed back to the dealership. That has got to kill ya. Just be firm with the dealership that this cannot happen again...they gotta give some serious work to fixin the problem. No cosmetic, cursory fixes.

There's something wrong and if a good mechanic finds it, you'll be fine. These engines are so advanced, it's difficult. And they don't spend enough time unless you make them.

Write BMW NA and politely say this is unacceptible. That will light a fire under the dealership's performance.
