Well, a month or so ago, I was getting in my car one cold night, and when I sat down, I heard a big CRACK. Turned out, the vinyl under my butt cracked all up. Since then, the cracks have been widening and getting worse. Well, today I was at the BMW dealer ordering touch up paint for my car, and figured I'd ask the parts guy if you can still order the seat covers. Figured it'd be a long shot considering the age of the car (In my experienc, parts like that are typically some of the earliest discontinued parts). The guy looked up my trim code off the VIN, and discovered that they still had access to the part numbers for the seat vinyl. He checked another system and found that there are six lower seat covers available in my color left in Germany. They don't make them anymore, but the system showed that there are six seat covers left. The cost is $70 some dollars. So, I ordered one, and we'll find out next week for sure if they are truly available. Hopefully, the system isn't inaccurate and they actually do have one left. He said it will take a week or two to get the cover shipped over here. So, I will hopefully be getting one of the last six seat covers left in the world! Pretty cool!

a company called BMP out of Tyler Texas has seat covers, leather, ranging from like 79 on for about $75 if you want to look thenm up
Yes, but I don't want to put a cover over my existing seats. The piece I have ordered is actually the original BMW upholstery. I will be replacing the vinyl upholstery on the seat bottom, not covering it up.

cool, cool, that means there's some hope left for me as well, cuz my leather is ruined on the driver's side by the door. BTW, phat ride, bro... maybe i'll see it down there in april. I'll be about two hours away. You going for an all-stock appearance on it? Any rims or mods in the works?

Update - my seat cover cover came in yesterday. Looks really nice - very well put together and very high quality - now I see why my seats are in such good shape - the materials are very high quality. It's very surprising to me that this thing didn't cost more than it did.

It has a "Made in Austria" tag on the plastic bag it came in. [:)] BMW actually FedExe'd the thing to the dealer in a big box. It had to have cost a fortune to send it the way they did - I'm glad BMW paid for the shipping!

You can see the pre-punched plastic tabs where the hog rings go. Shouldn't be too bad to install. Anything would be easier than when I reupholstered the seats in my Camaro - those were horrible.

Did you get a part number by any chance? I'm looking to get some leather ones. Let us know how difficult/easy it was to fit once you've finished.
