Passenger Door handle broken ?.?

Today my passenger door handle decided to stop working. From the outside, the handle pulls out all the way without opening the door.? The lock post moves up and down from both remote key and internal lock / unlock button. Thankfully the door can be opened from the inside. Of course I can take to the dealer for repair. I am curious if this is just a freak thing or others have experienced the same. Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

I don't recall anyone else posting this problem. I think it's an easy fix under warranty though.

Some more common probs I've seen on here: passenger side speaker buzzing, steptronic slipping (see SLIPtronic post, cross your fingers you don't get this).

Nice car though, what color is it?

The inner door handle on my driver side recently cracked off in my hand. The door was unlocked and when I pulled on it the same way I have countless times the handle cracked right off. I wish they would make them out of stronger plastic or lightweight metal. I acquired a new one from BMW and put it on myself rather than not having my car for a full day on something easily remedied.

bummer... are you sure someone did not try and force it open? Is there any other damage present? At least it will be covered under warranty.

Well, I just had this very thing happen to mine today. An additional sympton is that there's a crunching/scratching noise if I try to roll the passenger side window down. From searching the net, I've found a few others who've had this happen as well.

I swear, I've had some bad luck w/the passenger side door.
1) Speaker rattle (twice)
2) Door trim felt fell (twice)
3) Sticking passenger handle
4) broken outside handle

What is the speaker rattle you mentions about? I seem to hear a sound when I gradually accelerate past 60mph. I hear this sound off and on.
Also, I hear a crunch like sound when I lower or raise one of my rear windows. It happens only when the window reaches a certain point. Since my car is now out of warranty, I am sure it is going to be an expensive fix. But I am wondering if I should just let it be, can that cause major damage?

Hmm, never heard of the door handle not working before.

The crunching/scratching sound sure sounds like your window regulator failing (very common).

My central locking system won't lock/unlock intermittently. It just randomly chooses not to work every now and then. Both the button in the car and from the remotes. Can't bring it to the dealer cuz I can't reproduce it.
