What is the procedure to readjust the passenger mirror tilt position when car is put into reverse. I some how set it once but it's not in the position I want and I can't seem to change it. It's probably something really easy but of course the manual doesn't spell it out.

The switch that you use to switch between the left and right mirrors should be in the left position for the reverse tilt to work. It's as simple as that.

The mirror does tilts when put it into reverse but the problem is when it was set the first time I didn't get it exactly where I wanted it and now I can't change or adjust the positioning. I've tried everything that I could think of. I would startup the car, put it into reverse, adjust the mirror and switch it over to the left and it would stay right where I just positioned it. In the manual it says each key can position the tilt of the mirror to each drivers preference. I can't make it work.

You may have to get the key re-programmed at the dealer.

I'm not sure you can adjust the "tilt" of the mirror. From what I understand you can only adjust it for normal driving conditions. Then when you shift to reverse it automatically tilts down to some factory spec. I could be wrong on this, and if I am, some please let me know how to do it too since its off a bit on my car as well.

As I was explained the tilt feature. Its programed so you dont curb your rim. I dont know if you can make it drop down to any other position then that rear rim.

This is how the system works: With the gearshift NOT in reverse, adjust your mirrors to the level you like for driving. Now shift into reverse and switch the mirror slide switch (not the 4-way) to the left position. The passenger mirror will tilt down to a NON USER ADJUSTABLE level to give you a view of the lower right of your car. Put the car in anything but reverse and the mirror returns to the driving position.

Notes: 1. If you slide the switch back and forth while in reverse the mirror will raise and lower as the feature is enabled/disabled. 2. The feature is key programmable, not the tilt position.

Hope this helps......

Check your manual -- The tilt of the mirror can be adjusted to each key. This must be done by your BMW Center. This can be found on page 54 of the pdf version of the manual.

Mirror Tilt Feature Issues. Has anybody else at times have lost function of this feature. It currently works now. But I had situations twice already and the tilt feature does not work. I could not pin point what I did differently if any. I even double check that my Auto Mirror switch is positioned on the left and I even try to move the shifter back to drive and reverse and nothing happens. I think it comes back to normal operation after I turned the engine off and back on. I saw another thread that there is a problem with the motors inside. Maybe I'm missing something. Could somebody please let me know.

Update! yikes, I think the tilt feature is totally gone by this time. It's has not been working for the past 2 days. I will need to turn the car back in for a transmission issue. This is my first German car and it is heart braking to say the least that I have to go through all this issues.

What you really pay for in a car is the engine, all the bells and whistles that go along with it are just that, bells and whistles. Things go wrong from time to time, but that engine will outlast that car. my .05 cents.

Man- I thought I was the only one whose brand new 330i's tilt down feature didn't work. I know how to use it correctly and all, but the bottom line with mine is that it downright has stopped working. So, yes, I am having problems with it too and will be taking the car back to the dealer when I can afford the time to do so- hopefully during my week off next month. UGH!!!

I think german cars handle unlike any other car made...but they are so problematic. Our 15 Mercedes were mainly nightmares, and my aunts 540i is an absolute horror....it looks beautiful..but is always at the dealer. So just grin and bear it.....we might drive the ultimate driving machine, or look out at a three pointed star....but we are all headed to the same place...the dealership [:D]
