I have had to take in my 330cic twice for the passenger window. First it was a loose retaining clip and would make the window rattle when closed. This came from a passenger slamming the door too hard. Fixed @ deal and on my way. Now, I went to open the passenger door and the window did not do its normal slight retract and got hung up on the convert top. I went to close it, and now the window is loose again. It not only did not retract on opening, but also on closing. SO I had to lower it to get the car rain tight. Has anyone heard of this problem?

Windows and moonroof are the main problems on the E46 I believe. You're lucky the regulators haven't failed on you leaving you stuck with an open window. Not fun, especially when it's raining.

YUP!

Just got back form my dealer w/ 3 issues.

1. RADIO-the display is dim, on any bright day or with the top down, I cant read the display. The dealer says its fine....Im about to call BMWNA

2.passenger mirror- Some times drops down (switch is correct) BMW knows of the problem and theres no fix as of yet.

3. Passenger Window- does not go completely into the door as does the drivers, leaves about 1/2" sticking out (gonna be annoying to the arm in summer). Both the all up button and the rag top switch fail to bring the window up, the window also will not come up one touch. DEALER says it needs a new motor, I think there grasping for straws.

are you saying that the all up button does not work because you have to continuously hold it versus the one touch option for the driver window?? Maybe that's a change for the 2004, but the all up button only works if you hold it continuously on the 2003........the only window that has one touch is the driver window......I wish I had a one touch all up button

No. Im saying that when you hold the all up button ONLY 3 windows come up. The passenger window NO LONGER comes up. It worked fine when I first bought it.

Okay question.... on the '04 does the drivers side window (just the front one) have a one touch up? Cause from what you guys are saying it does, but mine doesn't go up with one touch, I have to hold it [scratch] I always thought it was slightly odd and annoying but just figured thats the way the window was.

Yes, the drivers window only works with a one touch up............less than a second hold and the drivers window comes up automatically..........mine is a 2003, so I know you're 2004 has it, plus all my 2004 loaners cars have had this option.......I just wished they had a one touch all 4 windows up button...........lazy huh........

Anyone have this problem?

My 2004 325xi has power seats (sports package). When I want to bring the seat settings back to my own (memory button 1), you have to press and hold down the button until the seat fully adjusts. In my other cars, you simply pressed the button and the seat adjusts all the way. It's frankly a big pain in the ars to hold it down, but I wanted to see if that is the design before speaking with the dealer. Any comments there would be appreciated.

Second itsm basically agrees with the previous posts, that the passenger side mirror does not always tilt. The dealer made it seem like this was an unusual occurance and initially blamed it on "user error", like it's somehow complicated or something. But I've read too many posts about this issue to think it's an isolated event. I find this to be a silly feature anyway, but since it's there and the car is brand new they should repair that also.

According to the owners' manual posted on the BMWNA website in the owner's circle area, YES your drivers and passengers windows have the auto-up feature. Sucks that yours doesn't work. Let the dealer fix it I guess......[?|] [?|] [?|]

Snow, I found that after adjusting the seat via memory(yes I have to hold the button) is when the passenger mirror starts to fail. Dealer said BMW knows but there isnt a fix as of yet, but will be fixed when there is.

The dealer also said that BOTH front windows should be one touch both ways, this to will be fixed. I am woundering if its just the switch to make it one touch, I remember changing the switches to once touch on a ford I used to have......

That is very interesting. Did you find that the mirror resets itself at some point? Mine is pretty much out of commission, though I did get it to work one time by moving the mirror manually. It seemed to unlock things. The fact that you have to hold the seat memory button down is pretty sad. Even a Hundai is a press it and forget it operation. There must be some German logic embedded in that, I guess.

In terms of the windows, all of mine goes up or down fully with one touch if you raise the switch all the way. Dealer should definitely change the switch for you.

Other than the little things, how do you like the car?

As far as the seat movement is concerned, did you check the owner's manual because the movement is linked to key position. I know you probably already checked but just thought I'd mention it.

Snow, once I move the seat and loose the mirror function. I switch the switch to the right move the mirror for a second up then down(back to same position) then move the switch back left, it usally starts to work again.

as for the having to hold the seat, I dont mind it to much, it may be a safty thing, I have gone into my moms lexus 430 and hit the button and been jammed into the stearing wheel because my mom is so short.

The seat problem is quite simple. I guess BMW engineers thought it might be dangerous if you push a button while driving and the seat starts to move. For it to adjust fully and with one touch, you need to press it when you get in the car before you start it up. If you press the seat memory then, it will adjust fully with one touch. At least it does for me!

Window problem

I also have a 2004 330CiC and, on the day my car was delivered (after I took it home) I discovered the "all-up" button did not raise the passenger window. By the next day, the problem started occuring to the driver's window. I took it back and they indicated it was a 'software' problem, corrected it (rebooted?) and now all is well.

In addition, I had noticed the problem with the passenger door window not completely lowering into the door, leaving 1/4" or so exposed. When I went to pick up the car, they said this was 'normal'... as in 'as designed'. I called BMWNA and they researched it for me and they said that although this probably should not be considered 'normal' and that an adjustment can be made to correct it without causing issues with the window sealing with the roof when it is raisted. I'm going to have this corrected on my first service.

I've also had incidences where I have to hold the memory button for it to move the seat, but most of the time it works with a touch. I'm going to see if I can figure out the circumstances that causes it to work differently.

Passenger Window does not go completely into the door

About the subject, I was informed by BMW Service Zentrum in Frankfurt, that it is a "normal problem"!!!

It made me crazy...

I have wrote to BMW Munchen and I hope to have some answer!

Actually all of the cabrios I saw in the dealer have the same problem.
Some times on the left door, sometimes on the right door, sometimes a litte bit, some times more than half centimeters.

I wish you good luck to fix the problem, and I will fight to fix my!

Tschuess!

Just a quick note. I had my dealer fix the problem with the window not going all the way into the door. after getting the car back, it went totaly down but failed to seal. So after 3 visits I left it alone because it was more important for the window to seal then go all the way into the door.
