HI. this is my first post. I have a 2003 black 325i with black interior. The console area, cupholders, storage areas and shift area all started peeling and the strange rubbery paint has lots of knicks and dents in it. I recently read somewhere that this is not a personal quirk of my car but something that most cars of this number and era have. I called BMW USA and asked why there wasn't a fix they offered. They said they hadn't received many complaints. I was thinking that if everyone who has this problem calls and registers a complaint they might offer a free fix. Has anyone out there fixed it on their own?

The rubber coating around my center console in my 98 roadster peeled some and they replaced it under warranty, however that was during the first three years of ownership.

The only interior issue I have with my car as it stands.

Yes, the center console is CHEAP in 3's at least, it would seem. it peels after a few years. Some do, some don't. Maybe it depends on which factory it came from and the plastic/rubber mix that day at the facory, I dunno. But you hear this all the time from 3 owners. :(

It's a known issue in them. Sorta like the Altcantara steering wheels melting in peoples hands in the M3/ZHP's after a few years too.
