Hi guys i am new to the BMW scene but i love the e30. I have a chance to buy a 1986 325 es w/172k in near perfect condition. The following parts have been replaced: Engine reseal, Timing belt-Water pump-Tensioner-Seals, Clutch-Pressure plate-Release bearing, Shifter rebuild, Belts-hoses, Brakes (Hawk, Brembro), Tires, Alignment, Plugs-Wires-Rotor-Coil, Thermostat, Temp sensor, Intake boot, K&N, Drive Shaft-Center bearing- Guibo, Valve adj., Fluids including brake trans diff antifreeze oil filter, Antenna, Emblems, Dinan chip, Windshield, Bulbs, Wipers. Seems to me like most of problems that would surface at this age have been addressed, btw the KBB says like $2000...thats seems cheap to me. Thanks!

$2k is about right, in perfect condition maybe $4k but I would never pay that for it. The work you list is all routine care for the car that does not add value, those things are considered normal wear and tear. The Dinan chip for that car is only $199.00 and not a value adder either. I say if the car is inspected by a BMW mechanic and he approves the car I might go up to $3k but that is it! Good luck.

I've always loved the web wheels on that car, and on later BMWs that
also featured them:

But the car is probably a money pit, unless you're very handy with repairs.

See if you can bump your budget to $10K, you should be able to get a much nicer, and more
reliable bimmer. Here are a bunch in Pennsylvania

And here's what looks like a clean 328 coupe, 5-speed, convertible, with 73,000 miles for $9,995:

I see nothing "M Tech" about it except for the M badge? M Tech usually means the car came with some "M" equipment like a steering wheel, wheels, suspension or something, I can find nothing in my BMW books that indicate that an 86 325es came wiht any "M" options. HIs response to am eBay members question regarding the M tech was; " Hi - First off I want to say this is not a full on M-Tech car. It has a few M-tech parts on the car. In 1986 the M-Tech I options only were available. This car has M-Tech steering wheel, and springs/sway bars, and a badge. It also has the hounds tooth cloth sports seats that were common on the M-Tech cars.(Full on M-Tech cars from 1986 are rare and were mostly sold in the UK) " I don't buy it.
