Hi all. I just picked up my new 330i yesterday and I love it. A question for anyone out there - I didn't get the sport package, but I want a 3-spoke steering wheel. I saw one on ebay, but is replacing the steering wheel something I could do on my own, or is there just too much going on behind the wheel? Thanks

hey welcome to BMWboard[thumb]. to my understanding replacing the steering wheel is kind of middle of the road. i want to say its more simple that you would think, but i've heard so many stories of people doing a really bad job on it.

how many of you guys have replaced your wheel?

ps - be sure to post some pics of your new ride.

I know the techs at work deal with steering wheel issues a lot and i understand it is a big, big, job. Not because of the wheel itself, but the airbag issues. Most of them hate it on newer cars, but older cars it is a snap from what I understand.

Damn that looks nice.....that black is so reflective when its that clean.

Steering wheel pulling is not for the faint of heart, best left to someone with experience. You need special tools (a steering wheel puller for one) and knowledge of the wiring and electronics to boot, like Bryan330i says.

nice! congrats, and enjoy the torture of the break-in!! well if you care about your baby that is [:p]

as for the 3 spoke wheels, get the m steering wheel if you can, but since you have the rectangular airbag, you'll also have to fork over some money for the circular airbag found on the sports steering wheels. (they might be expensive.. :(
