Picked up my 04 325ci

I picked up my car today and haven't been able to stop driving it. It's an 04 325ci, blue, manual, sport pkg, xenon, hk audio. I think I'm in love with this car, it's the best car I have ever driven.

I have a question for everyone, I couldn't find it when I did a search. There seems to be a hissing sound coming from under the car, from the rear. Someone said it has to do w/ the reserve gas tank, but that doesn't sound right . Has anyone else had this issue? You notice it when the car is on and you are standing next to it. I am going to make an appt at the dealer tomorrow.

The hissing sound might be the fuel pump?

I'd be willing to bet my E30's noisy fuel pump that the hissing you are hearing is just the fuel pump and is probably normal.

My e34 does the exact same thing, and I've come to the conclusion it's the exhaust or the fuel pump.

Hissing? If you're outside and the car is idling, I think I know what you're talkign about. I just assumed it was the exhaust.

This car makes a lot of weird noises which you don't hear when you're in the car. Like when I shut my car off, it makes a whole bunch of popping noises. I'm pretty sure it's just metal contracting as it cools cuz we've had other cars make noises like that. Just not that frequently and so loudly. It sounds like metallic popcorn being made.

That hissing sound is COMPLETELY NORMAL, my 330i does it. It's just air being propelled from the exhuast muffler. Don't waste your time and the dealers, there is nothing wrong with your car.

Thanks, the only thing that worried me was that it's pretty loud sometimes. I'll wait a while, but I have to go the dealer to program a key anyway.

Just gave the car to the dealer for the engine vibrating, I'll update the board about what they tell me regarding this hissing sound.

Here's an update: This hissing sound is actually from the fuel filter, the dealer needs to change it.

well welcome to teh board, have fun with your car, kinda sucks that you got it and there was a prob, but don't let that bother you too much, its all around a good car, post some pics in the gallery should be the way to go
