On Friday, despite the Steptronic issues. The car was built in March, and I was told it should be alright. One problem I did have was the Driver and Passenger mirrors started to act like they had a mind of their own. I left the dealer and was driving for about 30 min. when the passenger mirror adjusted all of the way in, by itself. I then moved it back to where I could see, and as soon as I lifted my hand from the switch, it started to go all of the way back in again. Then the drivers side started doing the same thing. So what I had was I could only adjust 1 mirror, then move the selector to the other side, so the adjusted mirror stayed in it's set position. If i moved the selector to the adjusted mirror, it would move it all of the way in. When I got home, I removed the fuse for the mirrors, so I could drive the car. Has anyone heard of this before? Is it common ? Thanks

Congrats!

Bummer about the mirrors. My car has not had any mirror issues, but there have been compliants about the motors not working at all. Yours sounds the opposite, they want to work by themselves. Sounds like a stuck switch or wiring short for that directional switch, since it does it on both mirrors depending on the selector.

Wow... that's a bummer. Nothing like little mechanical gremlins to take the joy out of a new car purchase. Mine was built in late February 2004, and the only mechanical problem I've had (that I can't seem to reproduce for the dealer) is an intermittent window-raising issue on the driver's side. When I use the "all windows up/down" button to raise all windows, sometimes the driver's window will go back down again by itself. My thinking is that it's somehow getting ahead of the rear window (which is a no-no), triggering the pinch protection and causing it to lower agaiin. Everything's fine when I raise it by itself. This is the only issue I have with an otherwise perfect car.

Regardless, I hope you enjoy the car. I'm loving mine. Would like to see some pictures of yours too.

sometimes the driver memories are tested, and sometimes set, which could be a reason for the mirrors acting funny. put the car in park, adjust all your settings, and "save" in a memory position of your choice. this could get rid of the issue.

No the settings did not work, as a matter of fact, I can't set it, as soon as I let off of the control switch, the mirror goes in as far as possible. I just disconnected the fuse.
