If you don't mind me suggesting another brand, try the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position instead. I currently have these on my M3 and they are much better than my Pilot Sports.

According to Tirerack.com ( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/mi_ps2_nextGen_c.html ), they seem to like the PS2's better than the S-03's. They also liked the P-Zero Nero's...?

Mr. E - when you say better with certainty, are you taking all performance considerations along with ride quality and road noise into consideration? Have you used several tires on your G35? Just trying to formulate the most objective opinion.

Thanks for your imput!

PS2 hands down winner in all categories, quiet, less sidewall flex, incredable grip wet or dry. Just wears down to quickly but nothing in lifes perfect. My opinion of course! Sounds like any of these will not let you down.

Whatever you do, don't use PS/2's as track tires (on a 2004 ZHP). The outside soft compound gets erased almost immediately. I got only 5 track days out of a set before chunking and severe wear scared me into removing them.

The like the arrow tread on the Pilot Sports and S0-3's - a bit ridiculous to say or think about, but it's true. The arrow tread looks far sportier than the traditional looking tread on the PS2's or Pirelli Nero's...

Tirerack also ranks the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=MP)

Has anyone used the F1 GS-D3 tire??

I don't need tires for another 5k miles or so, but trying to do as much asking around now...so far you guys seem to love the PS2's or SO-3's?? Other stories, comments...?

Thanks again!

I've got Pilot Sport PS2's on my 330i, and I think they're excellent. No matter how hard I try, I can't make them slide. I'll get back to you on just how fast they wear down, though. A quick quesiton to anyone out there with these tires - I installed them a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find any indicator on the sidewall as to which way they are supposed to rotate. I definitely could tell the difference between the inside and outside of the tire, though. Could I have put them on backwards? Thanks.

My car came with Pilot Sport's. They are great in the dry and after 10,800 hard miles they are showing exceptional tread life. But they are a bit noisy and they are very twitchy in the rain (my car hydroplanes way too much for a heavy, long-wheelbase vehicle).
Based on what I'm told, S-03's are quieter and really great in the rain, and they offer better resistance to heat (which is good for hard driving).

The PS2's don't have a preferred rotation direction. Instead, they have a preferred outside. The Pilot Sports are just the opposite -- they have a preferred rotation direction, but no preferred outside.

PS2 are not directional, as long as the part of the tire marked outside is outside you good to go. I love these tires, exceptional grip wet or dry. Same as you, not enough miles to see how well they wear.

That said, the advantage of PS2's over the S0-3's would be their ability to rotate...is that ture?

From what many of you say and what many critics say, it sounds like PS2's and SO-3's are the best out their and they are probably really close. I would love to hear more opinions though.
