so on friday my coworker came to me asking for help. her father is about to buy a new bimmer.

target: 03 325i sedan (new) with sports package. no premium or so, only sport.

price: 32 k.

question: is that a good deal for an 03 bimmer in cali? i don´t know if prices are the same everywhere, so i determine it as california.

thanks
Tim

Wadula, are you sure Sport Package is the only option? Because if you configure a 325i and the ONLY option you choose is Sport Package, the car comes out to $29,895 MSRP.

On an 03.......................?

I'd tell em to take a hike, or have them come down a lot. The car is " 1 year old" already and has depreciated just siting on their lot.

If he's gonna look at that price range, he might as well get a 330i.

Where can you get a 330i for 32,000? You are still close to 40,000 with the basic packages on it for a new 2003.

Kelly Blue Book is showing $32,905.00 for a private party sale with a Las Vegas zip code which should be close to California pricing. That includes the sport package and no PP. The price seems like a good deal for the area. Many used around here that are 1-2 years old are going for 30+ on dealer lots.

Consumer Rated Condition: Excellent
"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks great, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. It should pass a smog inspection. The engine compartment should be clean, with no fluid leaks. The paint is glossy and the body and interior are free of any wear or visible defects. There is no rust. The tires are the proper size and match and are new or nearly new. A clean title history is assumed. This is an exceptional vehicle.

Private Party Value $32,905

You guys are forgetting that this could be an auto with leather. 31-32k is average for around here. And you cannot get a 330i for this price.

Tim, where is she buying from?

i believe a price of 32k is high because MSRP on a 2004 is 33,600 (similar options)...

its already a year old ...

and they need to get rid of old inventory ... there is still room for that dealer to go down on price ...

I am sure that the California dealer asking prices are a bit high. Buy the blue book for a used private party sale here is $32,905 and I think it would go for that in about 1 day. I also think that So Cal prices are a bit high as well from what I see so I guess it depends on the area.

My 330i was going for 3500.00 over sticker here so I got it from Riverside after looking around a lot. The best prices I found were in Texas when I was looking, and the South West seemed to be the highest.

tom, it´s a bimmer dealer i guess. i will check and let you know.

mrE, yes, she expressed it very precise, sport package only.

thanks for all the answers, it creates a picture in my mind that will help. btw, tom guessed right. i called her uptoday and asked about leather or not, and yes it will be leather seats. so maybe the price is"okay", but still as it is a 03 only, she should try to knock something down.

thanks for all your advice fellows!

No way would I pay full retail on a model year old car. Period. If you do, your getting hosed.

Might as well get the 04 for that price. Alexander BMW in LA gave me my 330i for $1k under sticker in Jan of 03.
