I was wondering if there is any power adapter which can be used to output 110V AC power from the car. I saw something in radioshack which converts the 12V DC from the lighter socket to 110V AC (~60W); however, my SA told us that the wattage is too high and it's going to burn the wire of the socket. Is there any place in the car which can safely output 110V AC power with enough wattage, say ~100W for a laptop, etc. I found a BMW adapter (part # 82 11 0 004 073) which is plugged in the flash light socket in the glove compartment. I wondering how much the wattage is for that socket. Thanks a lot.

Just thinking out loud, wouldnt it be easier to purchase a 12V adaptor connector for your laptop? They are readily available for just about all makes of laptops.[???1]

That's a good idea. The power I need is 20V, 3.5A (up to 70W). It now comes to a question that what the maximum allowed wattage for the glovebox flashlights recharge socket. Thanks!
