I all

Well the big day is drawing near and I need to do some prep work on my ride before we tackle the raceway next weekend, as this is my first time on a race track I would like some input from those of you who has done this before, we are doing a 5 lap race a 600m run and a gymkana. Is there anything special I should take note off before taking my litttle 325i for the run off her life.

The spec.

remove the driver's side front headlight for better airflow into your airbox. also, you could remove the passenger's seat and the spare tire, to save weight.

Sorry i dont have anymore suggestions, but good luck[thumb]

well, when my friend goes to the drag strip, he does nothing to it at all... he drives it as if it were set up for the street... that means spare & everything in it (cept for a low gas tank)

but, if u wanna go track prepped -

remove all the seats... front pax is just held in by 4 bolts one more holding on the seatbelt... rear seats are just clip-ins if i remember correctly... remove the bottom first just by pulling it up, then the back... pull the spare tire, too (AFTER u get to the track & have inspected your other 4 tires)

removing the driver's high beam won't make much of a difference as far as airflow goes, but pull it if u want.. it can't hurt

then just give the car a SUPER comb through... coolant & oil are obvious, but check AAALLLL fluids... trannie, break, differential, powersteering, etc etc... another obvious is to check all your lug studs to make sure they're all on tight... u do'nt want one comin out, although u technically CAN run w/ just three for a short period on the streets, u do'nt wanna do that on the track.

all in all, be paranoid about every system in the car... suspension, differential, steering, breaking etc etc

hopefully i'll be getting to the track soon, too... but since most of my suspension is 16 years old, i'm gonna be doin alot of replacing before i get a chance to get to the track [rolleyes]

What type track? Drag strip, Road course, Oval, or a high speed driving school?
See what the rules allow and what safety equipment is required. Flush the brake system and replace the fluid with ATE Super Blue Racing fluid or equivalent and use a torque wrench on the wheels.
