Hi, welcome to the forum. [:)]
Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. $1,300 over invoice is pretty sweet. Have you tried any other dealerships for a price quote?

Thanks for your messages.

Mr.Elussive, I got a second dealer to match the quote but he would have to special order it whereas the first dealer had it on the lot.

MyHarley, I look forward to your salesman's opinion.

MyHarley, what's the problem with the price? He is paying well under MSRP...only $1,300 over invoice, I think he did pretty good! [:)]

Dealers run a business. A fair profit, is a fair profit.

$0 is not a fair profit.

3-4% over invoice seems a fair deal.

I live around DC and I think my dealership made $0 from my car. I got a 2004 325i standard with auto and heated seats for 30,707 with taxes and everything. Before taxes it came out to 29,500. I don't understand what kind of business it is.

I agree. And some people think that dealer invoice is dealer invoice is no profit...yea...I don't think so. BMW claims no holdback but I bet the incentives per vehicle are very nice for the dealership aside from the invoice to selling price markup.

By BMW’s own admission, the cars have a very high profit margin compared to most other cars (see BMW annual reports, bmw.com). I would guess that if a dealer sells a car for 3000.00 over invoice, and handles the entire transaction including financing, the take would be at least 5000.00 or more minimum including all incentives. And I think this is on the low end. I would think that a sale at invoice must be at least 2-3000.00 in the dealer’s pocket.

[rofl] [rofl] [rofl] You know how it all works , blah, blah, blah, we just cant go any lower...we have nothing it in now as it is [bigcry] at the same time the guy in the booth is spending his commission on the deal. Some people believe it I guess but those big dealerships with all the overhead are not everywhere because they only have a couple of thousand in each car.

donmbmw,

Nope, the premium package doesn't include leather. Here's what's included:

8-way power front seats with 2-way manual headrests; 3-driver memory for exterior mirror and seat positions; automatic tilt-down of passenger’s side-view mirror when vehicle is shifted into reverse gear

Myrtle wood trim

2-way power glass moonroof with “one-touch” operation, sliding interior sunshade, and wind deflector

Automatic-dimming inside rear-view mirror

4-function on-board computer

BMW Assist integrated wireless communication system

Have you looked at buying a new '03 (if your dealer has any left). The deltas between an '03 and '04 3-series are nil. I went looking for an '04 325 or 330 and ended up buying a brand new, loaded '03 for $4k off MSRP (approx $1500 below invoice). Needless to say, the factory is definitely giving the dealers incentive to rid themselves of the '03. Let me know if you want the details.

Question: You say you ordered black leatherette, but then go on to say premium package. Doesn't the premium package on the Xi come with leather?
I once had that same question. The answer is that the Premium Package does that only for the 330 models. [:)]
